Given my background, Im fairly literal, so not sure I follow your comment "As a photographer, I try to incorporate visual thinking into the reading process". In a photograph, what is one reading?
As always, the offer to teach you physics is open.. Thats everyones dream I believe...
Since reading Crime and Punishment at 16, I have interpreted literature with utter disregard for the establishment. Here I have culled academic writings from my time as a high school student at Interlochen Arts Academy, through my studies in literature at Yale, and finally my year at Duke University preparing to teach high school English. I hope this collection can serve as both a model for students as well as a contribution to discourse.
A student for life and teacher of English, I approach literature with a vengeance and encourage others to do the same. To read with disregard for accepted interpretations opens literature to a more enlightening dialogue with the rebellious reader. Read and see what my hermeneutic circle looks like.
I specialize in text-image studies and 20th century European literature, especially the work of Samuel Beckett. As a photographer, I try to incorporate visual thinking into the reading process, a technique lost to those focused solely on the text.
